Welcome to my collection of Miniature Marshes. You can select a piece to see more details about the work.
These "miniature marshes" were created as a practice in observation. In painting, one experiences changes as one paints. It is a much slower pace of life, like walking to and from a destination when you are accustomed to driving. The details come forth. The mysteries present themselves. All sorts of dialogs come to the surface, for me at least in the range of "this reminds me of that time my stepdad told me about duck hunting....what the hell am I doing out here at 7:30am when its about to rain....why do I love doing this so much....If Winston Churchill was hiding his secrets in his pond paintings, what I am doing with my ponds...and does painting outdoors like this even matter...are these landscapes going to be here like this when I'm an old lady...does deep contemplation and observation of a place make a difference?"
And so however humble, I hope they bring you similar moments of nostalgia, internal reference, reflection and contemplation. Maybe they'll bring back memories or relate to someplace you've been before.
